Hitachi Joins Maker Faire Detroit With Sponsorship, Exhibit and Recruiting Drive

Detroit, Michigan, July 24, 2017 — Hitachi Automotive Systems Americas, Inc. has announced the company’s sponsorship of Maker Faire Detroit, to be held at The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation in Dearborn, Michigan, July 29-30.

Hitachi Automotive Systems Americas, Inc. joined the show in 2016 and returns as a Maker Sponsor to promote its brand in North America, highlight a few of Hitachi’s key technologies, and connect with job seekers and future engineers. “We are delighted that Hitachi Automotive Systems is back for Maker Faire Detroit this year,” said Patricia Mooradian, president and CEO of The Henry Ford. “This is a great opportunity for us to inspire our guests by showcasing the work the company’s doing today, surrounded by the great innovators of our past.”

The company’s exhibit will feature three Hitachi Group companies: Hitachi Automotive Systems Americas, Inc., known for its engine management, electric powertrain, drive control, and car safety and information systems products; Clarion Corporation of America, a leader in car audio and electronics; and Hitachi High Technologies America, Inc., recognized for its science & medical systems, semiconductor manufacturing equipment, industrial & IT systems, and advanced industrial products.

Hitachi Automotive Systems team members will perform automotive science experiments and explore the basic technologies that help to power their electronic control units and HEV traction motors. Hitachi High Tech representatives will host interactive demonstrations of their TM3030 Table Top Scanning Electron Microscope to give visitors a glimpse into the micro-world around them. Clarion team members will promote their latest in-vehicle infotainment and safety solutions by showcasing a freshly restored and tastefully upgraded 1991 Acura NSX, loaded with the latest and greatest Clarion connectivity and entertainment products, audio components and safety technologies. In addition, Clarion will share a series of videos documenting the iconic Acura’s fascinating transformation through its highly acclaimed California-based “Clarion Builds” program from a high-mileage daily driver to a jaw-dropping, purpose-built show car designed primarily to be driven rather than statically displayed like most show cars.

Hitachi Automotive Systems’ recruiting team will be onsite to talk with Makers, students and visitors about career opportunities at its sales and design center in Farmington Hills, MI. "We love this event,” said Rick Currie, director of human resources for Hitachi Automotive Systems Americas, Inc. “Not only can we showcase our technologies, but we also get a chance to meet and inspire young people who may become future members of the Hitachi family.”

Visit Hitachi’s display Saturday, July 29 and Sunday, July 30 inside The Henry Ford Museum near the exhibit entrances for “Heroes of the Sky” and “With Liberty and Justice for All”. For more information, please visit www.makerfairedetroit.com.
