Service Sales Dept.

Service Sales Dept.

History of the Department

The Service Sales Dept. is mainly in charge of selling service parts for equipment sold and delivered to customers in Japan and overseas by the Hitachi High-Tech Group.
In terms of organizational changes over the past 10 years, until March 2017, it was assigned to the Service Sales Division, which was divided into the Domestic Sales Department and the Overseas Sales Department, and each was engaged in sales activities for domestic and overseas customers respectively. In April of the same year, a new Service Parts Division was established, and it was made up of three departments related to service parts: the Domestic Sales Department, the Overseas Sales Department, and the Procurement and Logistics Center. These departments worked together to improve the overall process from receiving inquiries about service parts to supplying parts.
From April 2019, the company moved to the Science and Medical Services Division, and the Domestic Sales Department and Overseas Sales Department were reorganized into the Service Sales Dept., which conducts sales activities, and the Service Parts Center, which processes customer order slips.
In April 2020, the Service Sales Dept. and Service Parts Center were integrated to form the Service Sales Dept., which was divided into five groups with clearly defined roles.
Due to the spread of the coronavirus in 2020, we were forced to change from working in the office to working from home, and in departments that handle a lot of slip work, we were forced to change from printing on paper to electronic documents. As a result of the employees pooling their knowledge and discussing the matter via online meetings during their work from home, they were able to change most of their work to be handled in electronic documents. As a result, it has become possible to reduce paper use, making a significant contribution to environmentally friendly operations.
The current content of domestic and overseas sales operations is as follows.
The domestic sales department is responsible for selling parts and consumables for the equipment sold to domestic customers by Hitachi High-Tech, Hitachi High-Tech Science, and HIRANUMA, as well as selling solution products that meet customer needs. The main areas of responsibility are medical, analysis, and analysis.
The overseas sales department is in charge of selling service parts for the equipment that Hitachi High-Tech sells to overseas customers. The business content is order processing, export management, and export arrangements. The main areas of responsibility are medical, analysis, bio, evaluation, and analysis. On the other hand, the fields in which they conduct sales activities are medical, analysis, and biotechnology.

Market Trends and Product Changes

In the domestic market, due to the decrease in the number of medical and analytical devices in operation, it was not possible to expect growth in sales of parts and consumables, so we began selling diamond wire cutters for sample preparation in 2018, clean air products for virus countermeasures in 2020, and seismic isolation devices (μ-Solator) for earthquake countermeasures for devices in 2021 as solution products that meet customer needs. We are also working on sales of fabless products and HIRANUMA and HORIBA-related equipment.
In overseas markets, business has grown dramatically in the medical field through collaboration with Roche Diagnostics, which includes Hitachi High-Tech, and sales of parts have also grown in line with the number of devices in operation, with medical products accounting for a large share of overseas parts sales.

Future Prospects

Regarding domestic sales, in order to contribute to improving the global environment through the sale of parts and consumables, we will promote the shift to electronic ordering transactions to reduce paper work, and we will also promote the shift to digital processes through the use of RPA, while also working to expand annual parts sales contracts to improve delivery efficiency.
At the same time, we will contribute to the expansion of the service business by developing human resources to strengthen sales activities, and by enhancing our lineup of solution products that meet customer needs and promoting sales.
In terms of overseas sales, as the scale of our business expands, centered on medical products, the impact on CCC due to the increase in our own inventory volume in line with the increase in the volume of goods supplied to customers is becoming an issue. We will aim for sustainable growth by contributing to the improvement of the global environment and promoting stable supply to our customers by optimizing inventory levels to meet the needs of each country, improving cash flow, and promoting the development of export controls in line with changes in environmental laws and regulations in each country.
