Topics

At the Hokkaido Branch Office, we have started maintenance for PBT (proton beam therapy system, maintenance started in April 2014), maintenance collaboration with a major pharmaceutical company (started in March 2016), DBM (design build maintenance business: in April 2017, we received our first order for the first five-year period from Hitachi, Ltd. our employees who were transferred to Hitachi, Ltd. are working as site agents and supervising engineers). There are also many projects that are pioneering the way for the rest of the country, such as DBO (design-build operation business: in March 2019, we received an order for 10 years of construction work and 22 years of management work from Hakodate Aqua Solution Co., Ltd., and ordered maintenance and inspection to our company).
The branch office is also a close-knit place with good teamwork, actively engaging in activities such as ACT Plus 1. At the QC Circle National Convention held in Ginowan, Okinawa, the branch received the Impressive Award three times in 10 years as a representative of the company.
The area has strong ties with the Hitachi Group, and every year many branch office employees and their families participate in various events such as volunteer activities and sports events, deepening exchanges.

In addition, they also actively engage in social contribution activities, such as conducting science support activities at Sapporo Municipal Misono Elementary School in December 2022 and Sapporo Municipal Tsukisamu Elementary School in October 2024.
During the Hokkaido Eastern Iburi Earthquake (which measured up to 7 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale in September 2018), there were power outages and water supply disruptions, but we quickly prepared emergency food and other supplies in the office and prioritized the safety of our employees and their families. By maintaining close communication between Hitachi Group companies, we were able to respond quickly even during an earthquake disaster.

Future Prospects

The Hokkaido Branch Office covers a vast area from its two bases in Sapporo and Obihiro, and is working on a branch strategy based on customer satisfaction, but because we have to handle customers who are scattered across the area with a limited number of staff, there are still issues to be addressed regarding the efficiency of operations, including travel, and staff allocation.
Looking at the whole of Hokkaido, the population continues to decline, and the finances of each local government continue to be in a difficult situation, but on the other hand, inbound demand and tourism demand have been increasing since the end of the coronavirus pandemic. With the extension of the Shinkansen line also beginning, and the Shinkansen line expected to be connected to Sapporo in a few years, further expansion of tourism demand is expected, and demand for service-related, food-related, and public-related businesses is expected to increase.
In addition, a data center is scheduled to be established in Tomakomai City, and a semiconductor-related company is currently building a factory in Chitose City, and the ripple effect on the economy due to the revitalization of the IT and semiconductor industries is expected in the future.
The Hokkaido Branch Office will work in collaboration with the Hitachi Group as a region that can lead future new business, focusing on maintenance of existing equipment for customers in the wide area of Hokkaido.
