Hitachi High-Technologies Corporation Receives Intel's Prestigious Supplier Continuous Quality Improvement Award

TOKYO, Japan, April 11, 2012 - Hitachi High-Technologies Corporation has been recognized as one of nine companies receiving Intel Corporation's prestigious Supplier Continuous Quality Improvement (SCQI) award for their performance in 2011. Recognizing extraordinary commitment to quality and exceptional performance to Intel's goals, this award is Intel's highest honor for its suppliers acknowledging world-class, outstanding performance. Hitachi High-Technologies Corporation provided etch and metrology equipment deemed vital to Intel's success.

"We at Hitachi High-Technologies are very pleased to once again accept the Intel SCQI award for 2011. Receiving this prestigious award for the seventh consecutive year is an unprecedented achievement for the Hitachi High-Technologies Team. As Moore's Law continues to drive a reduction in design rules, the challenges in all phases of design, manufacturing and product support continue to increase exponentially. Achieving this recognition in a year which included extreme economic challenges and an unprecedented natural disaster in Japan demonstrates Hitachi High-Technologies' commitment to responsiveness and our ability to creatively solve new challenges faced each year working together with the semiconductor industry's most advanced device manufacturer," said Shinichi Tachi, vice president and executive officer, general manager, Electronic Device Systems Business Group, Hitachi High-Technologies Corporation.

"It is a pleasure to award Hitachi High-Technologies Intel's SCQI award, our ultimate quality designation, for their world-class support to our technology development programs and global manufacturing network," said Robert Bruck, corporate vice president and general manager of Technology Manufacturing Engineering, Intel Corporation. "In 2011, HHT recovered from the Japan earthquake and tsunami with deliveries of next generation etch and metrology equipment. Hitachi has done a truly outstanding job of preparing for and responding to the world's first high-volume 22nm logic technology ramp. They also demonstrate an elite environmental and safety culture from corporate headquarters to field engineering teams. We appreciate the support from HHT and look forward to continued close collaboration to meet our future technology and supply chain challenges."

The SCQI award is part of Intel's Supplier Continuous Quality Improvement program, which encourages Intel's key suppliers to strive for excellence and continuous improvement. To qualify for SCQI status, suppliers must score at least 95 percent on a report card that assesses performance and ability to meet cost, quality, availability, technology, environmental, social and governance goals. Suppliers must also achieve 90 percent or greater on a challenging improvement plan and demonstrate solid quality and business systems. Additional information about the SCQI program is available at http://intel.com/go/quality (open in new window).
A celebration to honor SCQI award winners will be held in Santa Clara, California. In addition, there was an announcement on Intel's website at http://www.intel.com/ (open in new window).
