Hitachi High-Tech hold Remote Science Lesson for school in Osaka

Mino Saitono Oka Gakuen, Osaka
2022/1/14

On January 14th 2022, Hitachi High-Tech Kansai Branch Office held an online science lesson for the Science Club of Mino Saitono Oka Gakuen, an integrated elementary and junior high-school in Osaka. Ten students between the age of 12 to 14 participated.

Several such events have been planned only to be canceled due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, so this was the first event Kansai Branch have been able to hold in almost 2 years.

After listening to an explanation of the electron microscope, the class connected remotely to an actual microscope located in Hitachi High-Tech head office in Tokyo and observed samples which they had selected beforehand.

Having suffered from limitations to their activities for so long due to the impact of COVID-19, the students expressed their delight audibly as we carried out real-time conversations between Osaka and Tokyo and displayed the contents of the electron microscope on the large school monitor.

Afterwards some students commented that they were surprised that the samples did not look like they expected, and how great it was to see things that they could not usually observe with the naked eye.
