On February 24th, Hitachi High-Tech held four online sciences classes for 124 6th grade students of Umegaoka Elementary School in Mito City.

Umegaoka school has been holding all of its lessons online up until recently, so the students were excited to take part in this rare opportunity to have a lesson in their classroom where they could discuss with their friends.

A large TV monitor in the classroom displayed the images from an electron microscope. At their first glimpse into the micro world, the class was transfixed. And as an experiment involving yogurt pot lids revealed unexpected results the children commented in surprise.

In a feedback survey, we received comments from the students on how much they enjoyed the experiments and how they wanted to examine more objects in the electron microscope.

Going forwards, Hitachi High-Tech will continue to deliver science lessons and provide opportunities to spark children's curiosity in science.
