History of the Department

Its roots can be traced back to the Quality Assurance Center, which was established in August 1993. The ISO Promotion Project was launched in 1994 as a system to promote the acquisition of certification for the international standard ISO 9000, which was issued in 1987, and began operating as the secretariat for promoting this.
In November 1995, we obtained ISO 9002 certification for our quality assurance system, and in November 2001, we transferred to ISO 9001 certification for our quality management system. In addition, in November 1998, the company acquired ISO 14001 certification for its environmental management system.
In order to maintain and establish ISO 9001 and 14001 certification, we have promoted activities to comply with international standards and laws related to chemical substances, and so on. As society changes, the requirements become more and more complex, and we have repeatedly changed our organization to respond appropriately to each of these. The history is as follows.
In August 1993, the Quality Assurance Center was established.
In October 2008, it was split into the Quality Assurance Center and the ISO Promotion Center.
In October 2014, the Quality Assurance Center and the ISO Promotion Center were merged to form the Quality Assurance Department, which now reports directly to the president.
In April 2019, the Quality Assurance Division was established and split into the Quality Planning Department and the Quality Assurance Department.
In April 2024, the name of the Quality Planning Department was changed to the Service Quality Management Dept.
The environmental activities that were being carried out as part of ISO 14001 have been transferred to the newly established Environmental Promotion Dept.

Future Prospects

As a result of acquiring and maintaining ISO 9001 quality management system certification, it has become established as part of the company's operations. However, with the diversification of environmental laws and regulations, the ISO 14001 environmental management system is becoming more complex, and it is thought that this trend will continue in the future.
The Hitachi High-Tech Group is also strengthening its response to compliance, including mutual audits, and the importance of this is increasing in our day-to-day operations. In order to respond to changes in the social environment with a sense of urgency in terms of both quality and the environment, we will continue to promote activities in collaboration as the Hitachi Group.
