Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA) is an extremely powerful technique for understanding material properties. Estimated to be 100x more sensitive to the presence of the glass transition than DSC, DMA is commonly used for detecting the Tg in composites and highly cured materials. However, there are many other applications.

  • This is the first of the two lectures of the "Understanding Dynamic Mechanical Analysis" webinar series. Part 1 addresses the principles of how DMA measures as well as the basic applications like Tg, Tm, Modulus, and Curing. The second lecture looks at the more advanced topics of frequency effects in materials.
