Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA) is an extremely powerful technique for understanding material properties. Estimated to be 100x more sensitive to the presence of the glass transition than DSC, DMA is commonly used for detecting the Tg in composites and highly cured materials. However, there are many other applications.

  • This is the second of the two lectures of the "Understanding Dynamic Mechanical Analysis" webinar series. Part 2 address the effects of frequency changes on materials, the use of such effects for understanding the nature of the transition, and methods of frequency scanning. Finally the concept and application of Time-Temperature Superposition is discussed. The first lecture addresses the basics of DMA.
