Calories are the unit that concern us when we go on a diet. The unit’s original definition is, broadly speaking, the calorific value when the temperature of 1 g of water is raised by 1 degree. Even though it is not in fact an internationally recognized unit, it is permitted to be used solely to measure the calorific value taken by humans in accordance with the Measurement Act.
