Using a calculation method called logarithms

When sound pressure increases 10 times, the human ear feels that the sound volume has increased by 2 times. It is a relative indication method that uses a calculation method called “logarithms” to compare two sounds and see how many times they are different. A decibel is surprisingly complex.
