dpi expresses the fineness of images. It is an abbreviation of “dots per inch”, and expresses how many dots there are in an inch of an image. If the value is 300 dpi, this means that there are 300 dots in a mere inch. Generally-speaking, an image with 400 dpi or higher is considered to be high picture quality.
