(byte) Base data: information volume.
Volume of information displayed as eight binary digits in a computer
1-byte is 256 patterns of information
The smallest unit of data handled by a computer is a straight choice between 0 and 1. This choice is repeated infinitely to express information. A one-off choice between two things is “1-bit”. When this is repeated eight times, 28 = 256 patterns of information can be displayed, and these “8-bits” are called “1-byte”.
