International Nuclear Incident Evaluation Scale that indicates the gravity of nuclear accidents
The TEPCO Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station accident of 2011 created a serious level of damage. According to the International Nuclear Event Scale (INES), which indicates the level of a nuclear power station accident or degree of danger of such an accident, the Fukushima accident was set at level 7. This evaluation is “Major Accident” which is the same level as the Chernobyl accident in the former Soviet Union.
