Measures at the Site

Production and installation of insect hotels to create an environment amenable to insects is progressing on the grounds of Hitachi High-Tech Group properties. Insect hotels are produced primarily in Europe, particularly in Germany, as habitats for insects and contribute to controlling the declining numbers of insects. Waste materials that had been used to transport products and other similar materials are used for the hotel frame, and natural materials, such as pinecones, wood, dead branches, bamboo, and dead leaves are collected from the forest on the premises and used as nesting materials.
At the Hitachi High-Tech Saitama site, insect hotels were installed in a green belt on the premises in August 2022, and an ecological survey of insects that inhabit the site was started. Follow-up observations conducted in May 2023 confirmed that insects and reptiles were living in the hotels, reestablishing a feeling that we exist alongside the wildlife that inhabits the grounds.
