2023 New Year’s Greetings from the President

Let’s change the world by understanding correctly, and help solving social issues

Tokyo, January 5, 2023 – Takashi Iizumi, President and Chief Executive Officer of Hitachi High-Tech Corporation delivered this New Year’s Message to employees.

Happy New Year to everyone in the Hitachi High-Tech Group around the world.
Last year, the lockdowns caused by COVID-19 and geopolitical issues resulted in a global shortage of parts and raw materials. We started the 2024 Mid-Term Management Plan ("2024 Mid-Term Plan") in a difficult business environment, but thanks to everyone’s tremendous efforts, we were able to meet demand as business gradually recovered from the pandemic. The business environment will continue to be uncertain going forward. I ask that you be prepared for change, respond flexibly to change, and work toward achieving your respective goals without letting up, so that we can end the first year of the 2024 Mid-Term Plan in the best possible manner.

Last year, I talked with many of you through sessions held at different offices all over the world. At each session, I asked that all of you, in your respective regions, live up to the Hitachi High-Tech SPIRIT and take the initiative to help solve issues faced by your local communities and customers. The Hitachi High-Tech Group has sites all over the world. And it is you who live and work there who know the challenges of each region. I would like you to think about what you see as necessary and what should be done in your respective locations, and to work together to solve issues by involving other divisions and departments.

To this end, we have put in place a system that will allow each region to take on the challenge of strengthening existing businesses and creating new businesses speedily. Each of these issues is intricately connected and cannot be solved by one region alone. For that, the Hitachi High-Tech Group must work as one.

We are currently working on digital transformation, and diversity management, across the Hitachi High-Tech Group. These are both necessary to establish a system that can solve issues on a group-wide global basis. Creating a management foundation that can respond flexibly to change by centrally managing all information digitally and bringing together the power of diverse human resources to solve complex issues—these will be the foundation upon which to develop our business for the future.

In a complex and rapidly changing world, the Hitachi High-Tech Group’s strengths in Observation, Measurement, and Analysis are vital. Making the invisible visible. Making the unknowable comprehensible. Understanding correctly is the starting point for solving problems. Let’s change the world by first understanding it and leveraging our strengths in Observation, Measurement, and Analysis. Let’s strengthen our systems and work as one across the Hitachi High-Tech Group to help solve the issues faced by society and by our customers.
