Woodlands of Hitachi High-Tech Science received second consecutive highest JHEP certification ranking following renewal

JHEP Certificate

JHEP Certificate

Tokyo, December 8, 2025 Hitachi High-Tech Corporation ("Hitachi High-Tech", part of Hitachi Ltd.’s Connective Industries Sector), announced that the Woodlands of Hitachi High-Tech Science at the Fuji Oyama Works (Sunto District, Shizuoka Prefecture) of Hitachi High-Tech Analysis Corporation ("Hitachi High-Tech Analysis", a group company of Hitachi High-Tech) has been awarded the highest JHEP certification*1 ranking of AAA (Triple A) for the second consecutive time.

The JHEP certification is a system run by the Ecosystem Conservation Society-Japan that quantitatively evaluates and certifies efforts to contribute to the conservation of biodiversity. The certification requires renewal every five years, and the company was recognized for its continued implementation of planned activities and for achieving steady results.

The Woodlands of Hitachi High-Tech Science cover approximately 44,000 m2 of land within the Fuji Oyama Works. Since 2015, we have been working to convert coniferous forest into broad-leaved forest, regenerate Japanese pampas grassland to facilitate the growth of a variety of nature wild flora, and the removal of non-native plants. With the latest renewal, the site was awarded the highest rank in recognition of these ongoing activities, efforts to restore and conserve native plants, and the important role it plays as one of the bases for promoting biodiversity conservation in the surrounding area. We have promoted a variety of activities, such as working to build and install insect hotels as habitats for bugs since 2021 and have been externally recognized for our efforts —the woodland was certified as a Natural Symbiosis Site*2 in FY2023 and registered in the international database of OECMs (Other Effective area-based Conservation Measures)*3 in FY2024.

*2 News Release (February 27, 2024): The Woodlands of Hitachi High-Tech Science Certified by the Ministry of the Environment as a Natural Symbiosis Site

*3 OECMs: An area that contributes to biodiversity conservation, other than those designated for the purpose of preserving the natural environment and conserving biodiversity based on the Nature Conservation Act and prefectural regulations.

Hitachi High-Tech Group will continue to work on nature-positive*4 initiatives with local communities and employees, striving to create a rich future for both humans and nature, and will contribute to achieving a harmonized society where environment, wellbeing, and economic growth are in balance.

*4 Nature positive: Halting and reversing the loss of biodiversity to put nature back on the path to recovery. The aim is to achieve a positive state in which nature is enriched not only through efforts to conserve the natural environment, but also through wide-ranging initiatives in areas such as the economy, society, and politics.
