PT. Hitachi High-Tech Indonesia (HTJ)and Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Indonesia have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) aimed at advancing Geothermal research and talent development in Indonesia.

PT. Hitachi High-Tech Indonesia has initiated a strategic collaboration with the Faculty of Mining and Petroleum Engineering (FTTM) ITB to explore Hitachi’s Automated Mineralogy AMICS (Advanced Mineral Identification and Characterization System) capabilities for Geothermal Application in Indonesia. This collaboration consists of providing scholarship, event sponsorship, internship, and joint research with geothermal industries. This joint research in particular aims to investigate some issues related to mineral identification during geothermal exploration or drilling, and assess our AMICS solution to address these issues.

As Indonesia continues to advance its position as one of the world’s leading geothermal power producers, accurate mineralogical characterization has become increasingly critical for rock analysis, scaling prediction, mineral behavior understanding, and overall field optimization. Through this collaboration, Hitachi High-Tech Indonesia will support FTTM ITB and geothermal industry partners in applying AMICS technology to enhance exploration and production efficiency.

The collaboration period runs from 4 February 2026 to 3 Februari 2029. During this period, PT. Hitachi High-Tech Indonesia and our partner PT. Geoservices will provide Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) SU3900 and AMICS system to support the study.

This collaboration aligns with Indonesia’s national initiatives to expand renewable energy usage and promote sustainable resource management. By merging advanced analytical technologies with academic excellence, PT. Hitachi High-Tech Indonesia hopes to contribute to a stronger geothermal ecosystem and long-term energy resilience.
