Supporting HPLC Technology Education in Collaboration with an Indian Pharmacy College
The Hitachi Group is committed to creating social value through innovation and the sharing of knowledge, and actively promotes the development of future scientific talent worldwide.
As part of this commitment, Hitachi High‑Tech India Pvt. Ltd. (HTIN) collaborated with Konkan Gyanpeeth Rahul Dharkar College of Pharmacy & Research Institute, Karjat, India, to conduct a technical seminar titled
“HPLC: Basics and Method Development Strategies” on 24 February 2026.
The seminar was organized under the college’s Academic Enrichment Series and aimed to strengthen practical understanding of High‑Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)—a core analytical technology widely used in the pharmaceutical and life sciences industries.
The session was delivered by Dr. Purushottam Sutar of Hitachi High‑Tech India, who served as both Guest of Honor and Resource Person. Drawing on Hitachi High‑Tech’s global expertise in analytical instruments and solutions, the seminar provided an industry‑oriented overview of chromatographic principles and HPLC method development strategies.
Key topics included the fundamentals of chromatographic separation, essential terminologies such as mobile phase, stationary phase, and retention time, critical HPLC performance parameters, various chromatographic modes including reverse‑phase chromatography, and the configuration and functions of core HPLC system components such as pumps, columns, detectors, and data systems. The seminar also highlighted the role of HPLC in quality control, analytical development, manufacturing processes, and regulatory compliance.
The seminar was attended by 50 undergraduate pharmacy students and 10 faculty members, who actively engaged in discussions throughout the session. Participants gained enhanced conceptual clarity, practical insights into industry expectations, and a better understanding of real‑world analytical challenges.
Through initiatives such as this, Hitachi High‑Tech India continues to contribute to industry–academia collaboration, skills development, and the long‑term advancement of scientific education, in alignment with the Hitachi Group’s mission to support a sustainable society through science, technology, and human capital.
