The Hitachi Group sustainability strategy PLEDGES^＊

The Hitachi Group has established PLEDGES, a sustainability strategy consisting of seven strategic pillars, under Inspire 2027 and is working to further advance sustainable management. The seventh pillar of PLEDGES, “S”, represents Hitachi’s commitment to creating value for society through business activities driven by the other six pillars. It is an important pillar that demonstrates, as a strategic priority, Hitachi’s unwavering belief in contributing value to society.

GHG emission reduction contribution through environmentally conscious design in product development

Through environmentally conscious design from the earliest stages of product development and continuous efforts to reduce the environmental impact of our equipment, we help lower CO₂ emissions per unit of processing capacity (functionality) during customer use (CO₂ emissions reduction contribution: FY2025: 49,581 t/year; FY2026: 63,996 t/year; FY2027: 73,655 t/year), thereby supporting the transition to a decarbonized society.

Cancer treatment enabling work-life and social participation

By advancing radiation therapy-related technologies, we contribute to realizing a society where the approximately 150,000 people expected to receive cancer treatment by FY2027 (cumulative) can maintain their desired quality of life while successfully balancing treatment, employment, and participation in society.

Ensuring safety of railway users

Through railway inspection systems that support track condition monitoring and maintenance management, we contribute to safe railway operations by railway operators and help ensure safe, secure, and reliable transportation for passengers using the deployed rail lines.

"Digitalized Assets" solving social issues with technology-driven
"Power of Knowledge"

By FY2027, a cumulative total of 28,000 Digitalized Assets (analytical and measuring instruments) will provide the power to gain insights to research, development, and manufacturing sites. By supporting the improvement and advancement of increasingly complex and sophisticated frontline worker processes, these assets will contribute to solving social issues and advancing industry.

Cultivating talent who pioneer the future with the power of science

By supporting science education through the use of our products and solutions, we expand opportunities for hands-on learning and discovery. Through fostering the talent that will shape the future—reaching a cumulative total of 580,000 people by FY2027—we contribute to the creation of innovation.
