HITACHI EEM Systems

EEM Basic ~Measurement system for raw material discrimination and process confirmation~

Measurement system for raw material discrimination and process confirmation

-
Model F-7100 Fluorescence Spectrophotometer
-
Automatic filtering attachment*

* Only supported by F-7100/F-7000.

  • The model F-7100 fluorescence spectrophotometer is a basic system equipped with an automatic filtering attachment.
  • Fluorescence fingerprints can be acquired at about 2 to 3 minutes per sample.
  • Multivariate analyses can be calculated to determine whether to accept or reject samples.
  • When used with the automatic filtering attachment, the effect of unwanted higher order light can be eliminated.

Application example :
Fluorescence fingerprint of laundry detergent washing and rinsing process

Laundry detergents contain ingredients that fluoresce such as surfactants, various degrading enzymes, and fluorescent brightening agents.
Since proteins, which are a component of stains, also exhibit autofluorescence, the washing state and rinsing effect were confirmed using fluorescence fingerprint.

EEM Multi ~Automatic Multi-Sample Discrimination System with Microplate~

Automatic Multi-Sample Discrimination System with Microplate

-

* Only supported by F-7100/F-7000.

  • Handles continuous multi-sample measurement of fluorescence fingerprints using a microplate attachment.
  • Multivariate analyses can be performed to determine whether to accept or reject samples.
  • When used with the automatic filtering attachment, the effect of unwanted higher order light on the analysis can be eliminated.
  • 96 liquid samples can be continuously measured with the microplate, and 18 powder samples can be continuously measured with the powder sample guide.

Application example:Olive oil discriminant analysis

The fluorescence fingerprint of extra virgin olive oil and pure olive oil were measured, and the classification was determined by a multivariate discriminant analysis method. The fluorescence emitted from chlorophyll and from peroxide was ascertained. The discriminating model coefficients were prepared from the four wavelengths with high F values to apply them to unknown samples.

-

Measurement results for the known samples are read in, and model coefficients are calculated by the multivariate analysis software.

EEM Direct ~Discrimination System with Inline Optical Fiber~

Discrimination System with Inline Optical Fiber

-
Model F-7100 Fluorescence Spectrophotometer
(Optical fiber attachment installed*)

* Only supported by F-7100/F-7000.

-
Sample installation part
  • Samples with irregular shapes or large samples can be directly measured without placing the sample into a sample chamber by using an optical fiber.
  • A lineup of optical fibers is offered from 2 m to 5 m. Optical fibers are also available for conducting measurements far from the main unit.
  • The spot irradiated by excitation light from the optical fiber is approximately 5 mm, so micro regions can be measured.

Application example:Special fluorescent paint identification

Using the optical fiber attachment, discriminant analyses were carried out on fluorescent paint applied to paper.

Discriminant analysis results for various fluorescent paints
Discriminant analysis results for various fluorescent paints

By using an optical fiber, samples with irregular shapes or large samples can be directly measured without placing them into a sample chamber.
Using the dedicated analysis software, multigroup samples can be distinguished.
This is used for classification of raw materials and distinguishing production region, origin, etc.
