Hitachi High-Tech

Teaching Classes at Special Schools using Tabletop Microscopes

Eifuku Gakuen and Mizumoto Koai Gakuen, Tokyo
2019/5-6

In May and June, Hitachi High-Tech Support conducted classes at two special schools using a Hitachi tabletop microscope. Hitachi High-Tech Support, a designated special subsidiary of Hitachi High-Tech, is working to support employment for those with special needs. The initiative to partner with special schools as a source for recruitment started in 2016 and is now in its fourth year.

In the classes, together with a total of 180 students we observed samples of everyday items like coffee beans and sponges. Taking into account the results of the previous year's survey, this lesson followed an easy-to understand structure centered around the "What Is This? Quiz." Students who guessed the correct answers won Hitachi High-Tech Group promotional merchandise. They actively answered the quiz questions and were very excited to get the prizes.

At the end of the class, employees who are alumni of special schools gave the children certificates and some advice on school life, giving them a chance to engage with people from similar school environments who are working at the company.
