On October 22, Hitachi High-Tech Rus, LLC carried out an online STEM lesson at School No. 43 in Saransk, Republic of Mordovia, Russia. This school specializes in physics and math.
The lesson was for 16-17 year-old students. First a lecture was given on physics and the features of electron microscopy, followed by a remote demo of a TM4000 tabletop microscope located in Tokyo, Japan. Twenty-two students participated in the remote class and were able to control the microscope with their own classroom computers.
Feedback from the lesson was very positive and students made comments such as: “It’s not every day you can learn in such detail and independently operate an electron microscope”, and “The presentation was extremely interesting due to the openness of the speakers and their willingness to answer any questions.
Going forwards, Hitachi High-Tech Russia, LLC will continue to support science education in schools in Russia.
