HHT Naka Area Outreach Classes in Hitachinaka
Elementary Schools in Hitachinaka, Ibakaki Prefecture
Following on from last year, we held an online science outreach class for four sixth grade classes at Umegaoka Elementary School in Mito, Ibaraki Prefecture on Wednesday November 2.
It was the children’s first experience of an electron microscope, and some of them initially seemed a little worried that it might be too difficult for them. However, they all participated enthusiastically in the quiz-based learning and an experiment using yogurt, a familiar item to them.
Responses to a survey carried out after the class included the following: “I understood the reason for the bumpy and smooth surfaces of the lid,” “It was all new to me and was fascinating just to listen to,” and “We were able to take this class from the perspective of researchers.”
Hitachi High-Tech will continue utilize our products to provide opportunities for children to come into contact with cutting-edge science.
