Hybrid Science Event at Shizuoka Science Museum Ru Ku Ru

Shizuoka Science Museum, Shizuoka Prefecture
2023/1/6

On Friday January 6, 2023 Hitachi High-Tech held a remote workshop on electron microscope operations at Shizuoka Science Museum Ru Ku Ru. Our workshop was held as part of thematic Exhibitions (“Magnified! What Enlarged Images Reveal" ~December 7, 2022 to Sunday February 19, 2023~).

In addition to viewing specimens through the first-generation electron microscope and stereomicroscope installed in Shizuoka Science Museum, the workshop included the remote operation of the electron microscope installed at Headquarters. The experience of operating a number of microscopes during the same workshop meant the participants could see the differences in how their magnified images look and understand the characteristic features of their respective operating procedures.

Feedback from the participants included the following comments: “Seeing surfaces of objects that I’ve never had a chance to see in daily life made me aware of how amazing life forms and physical matter are,” “It was interesting how the media used to observe the micro world alter how things look and have different strong points,” and “It was my first opportunity to find out about these new tools.”

Hitachi High-Tech will continue to contribute to the development of sustainable science and technology by providing events that people can experience cutting-edge science.
