Hitachi Kansai Branch Hosts "Micro-Organism Observation Workshop" for Parents and Children in Its Laboratory

On December 7, 2024, Hitachi High-Tech Kansai Branch held a parent-child experiential learning event titled "Micro-Organism Observation Workshop" in Its Laboratory. This activity was organized by the Kinki Electron Microscope Technology Information Exchange Association, with support from Hitachi High-Tech and the Japanese Society of Electron Microscopy Technology for Medicine and Biology. This marks the 44th session of this long-running initiative.

A total of 11 families from various regions participated in the event, exploring the microscopic world. In addition to observing samples they brought themselves using electron microscopes, the event also featured hands-on activities such as a 'Handmade Microscope' workshop and the opportunity to observe 'one's own cells' using optical microscopes and staining techniques.
At the end of the observation session, participants shared their thoughts, including, "When I looked at small things magnified, I discovered so many new things," "It was great that you deepened each of our areas of interest," and "The opportunity to operate an expensive microscope is a valuable experience for the future." Through touching, observing, and analyzing, the children appeared to develop an even deeper interest in the microscopic world.

Hitachi High-Tech Kansai Branch will keep promoting social contribution activities by supporting science education for children who will shape our future.
