On January 22, Hitachi High-Tech Shanghai hosted a "Science Outreach Class" for 171 first-year junior high school students at Shanghai Japanese School Pudong Campus.

For the first time, the students themselves took on the role of MC for the class. The class began with a remote connection from Hitachi High-Tech's Tokyo headquarters, titled "Challenging the Microscopic Structure of Insects." The scene of insects eating, projected onto the large screen in the school gymnasium, had a great impact, and the students were captivated, exclaiming in surprise and watching intently.
Afterward, a special lesson on "The World of Semiconductors" was introduced. Teacher from Hitachi High-Tech Shanghai began by asking, "What are semiconductors?" and explained the world of semiconductors in three stages: "Semiconductors in the Nano World," "The World Seen Through Semiconductors," making the topic easy to understand.
At the end of the class, student representatives operated tabletop electron microscope on their own and observed items commonly found on campus, such as pollen and leaves. This time, they also observed semiconductor chips.

In the future, Hitachi High-Tech Shanghai will continue to offer science education that foster students' interest in science.
