Since 2017, Hitachi High-Tech has continuously held a “Science Education Support Event for Employees’ Families” during the summer vacation period. The event aims to deepen employees’ families’ understanding of the company while also providing children with opportunities to develop an interest in science.
At this ninth event, 34 children visited the company’s headquarters. The program consisted of three one-hour sessions organized around the themes “Part 1: Ants,” “Part 2: Mosquitoes,” and “Part 3: Stationery.” All participating children had the opportunity to operate tabletop electron microscopes themselves and observe various objects firsthand.
The children shared comments such as, “It was interesting to see that objects look different through an electron microscope than with my own eyes,” and “I was surprised to see tiny hairs on an ant’s body that looked smooth to the naked eye.” Parents also remarked, “It was a valuable opportunity for my child to learn about the company where I work and to visit the office,” and “The event helped spark my child’s curiosity about science.”
Going forward, Hitachi High-Tech will continue to promote science education support activities, to communicate the appeal of the Hitachi High-Tech Group both internally and externally.
