On Thursday, June 4, the Hitachi High-Tech Sustainability Management Department held a science outreach class for employees using a tabletop electron microscope. The session was part of the Hitachi High-Tech Group’s social contribution activities.
Employees from the headquarters, regional offices and branches, and Group companies in Japan and overseas applied to participate. A total of 65 employees joined the session, either in person or online. This was the first science outreach class offered to employees. In a post-event survey, 91% of participants said that the session had increased their engagement with the Hitachi High-Tech Group, indicating greater understanding of and interest in the activity.
Participants shared the following comments:
“The class was enjoyable and educational, even for adults. If I had experienced something like this as a child, I think I would have developed a greater interest in science.”
“I believe that outreach classes for elementary and junior high school students, who may become the science and technology professionals of the future, are highly meaningful to society.”
“Experiencing the class as it is delivered in schools deepened my understanding of the activity. I would like to participate in it myself.”
The Hitachi High-Tech Sustainability Management Department will incorporate the feedback received into future programs and continue to provide opportunities for employees to deepen their understanding of social contribution activities and strengthen their engagement with the Hitachi High-Tech Group.
