Remote Outreach Class in Sagae City, Yamagata

Ryosai Junior High School, Sagae City, Yamagata Prefecture
2020/11/18

On Wednesday, November 18, a remote outreach class was held for 2nd graders of Ryosai Junior High School in Sagae City, Yamagata Prefecture.
This class was held as part of the Tohoku Wakuwaku School project(*), which Hitachi High-Tech Tohoku Branch office has participated in since 2019.
Through two-way communication between Tokyo and Yamagata, the class ran smoothly and successfully taught students how electron microscopes are useful for new technologies and new product development.
When the first class made way for the next, some students commented on how lucky their teacher was to be able to attend the class twice! Another commented after the class, "I’m going to consider working with electron microscopes as my aspiration for the future”.

What is the Tohoku Wakuwaku project?
Run by the Tohoku Regional Advancement Center, the Tohoku WakuWaku project arranges outreach classes from companies and other entities. By connecting companies with elementary, junior high, and high schools in the Tohoku region the project provides an opportunity to deepen students understanding of local communities and industries.
There is an article about our remote lesson on the Tohoku Regional Advancement Center website as well! (Japanese)
