FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Hitachi High-Tech America, Inc. Appointed North American Distributor of PaceControls’ Energy and Smart Grid PACE AI Solutions

Schaumburg, Illinois, January 29, 2021 – Hitachi High-Tech America, Inc. (CEO: Craig Kerkove, “HTA”), a subsidiary of Hitachi High-Tech Corporation (CEO: Masahiro Miyazaki, “HHT”), announced that it entered into an agreement with PaceControls, LLC (CEO: Thomas Mills, “PaceControls”), authorizing HTA to serve as a non-exclusive North American distributor for PaceControls’ PACE AI energy and smart-grid machine-learning solutions. Additionally, HTA and PaceControls plan to pursue co-development of new PACE AI solutions and explore future expansion of their distribution relationship.

With today's rising concerns about sustainability and avoiding adverse impacts on the environment, HTA, like many other Hitachi Group Companies, is helping industries and businesses around the world shift to lower-carbon, more resource-efficient operations through Hitachi’s social innovation initiatives. The “built environment” is a major contributor to these concerns: a 2017 United Nations Environment Programme report on the impacts of the global buildings sector estimated that "[o]ver the next 40 years, the world is expected to build 230 billion square metres in new construction – adding the equivalent of Paris to the planet every single week"1. Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems typically constitute from 30% to over 50% of a building’s total energy consumption and related greenhouse gas emissions.

PaceControls’ patented, breakthrough PACE AI edge+cloud technology solutions combine a rugged, easily deployed Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) edge node and sensor suite for monitoring, predictive maintenance, and optimization with cloud-based machine learning/artificial intelligence for optimizing HVAC and process heating and cooling units. Commercially proven at large scale, PACE AI reliably saved more than 25% in energy costs for a wide range of cooling, heating, and refrigeration equipment, in every climate zone in North America and the Caribbean. The PACE AI suite qualifies for energy efficiency incentives and rebates across North America, which can cover 50% or more of installed costs, as well as electric and gas utility on-bill financing programs, which offer methods for commercial utility clients to pay for energy-saving projects, without upfront costs.

In addition to establishing the new North American distribution agreement, PaceControls and HTA intend to work together on new edge+cloud, sensor-aided solutions for a wide range of IIoT applications, adding enhanced analytics and monitoring, and expanded capabilities in the growing business of Energy as a Service (EaaS).
